Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy

The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) treatment guidelines stress that periodontal health should be achieved by the least invasive manners possible. As such, non-surgical periodontal treatment are utilized whenever possible. If caught early, most periodontal issues can be remedied using only non-surgical procedures.

However, non-surgical periodontal treatments do have their limitations. When periodontal health cannot be accomplished by non-surgical methods, surgery may be required to restore periodontal health.
